Educational development is about facilitating positive change in teaching and learning for educational institutions. It is about helping these institutions, individual and programs/departments function as robust, evidence-based, student-centered learning communities. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated educational programs are designed to emphasize scholastic achievement and higher academic development, promote service learning, foster college preparation and planning, and award college scholarships.

Whether it’s the middle school girl or boy who needs an extra push and additional layers of support, the high school senior who needs a scholarship to fund their college dream, or the child entrepreneur seeking exposure for their blossoming business, Detroit Deltas serve youth.

▲ ARTS AND LETTERS: Advocates for the arts that project the Black experience, such as inclusion of Black women on cultural boards and entities, and support for artists. The annual Art Auction, which is used to raise funds to support scholarships and further the enrichment of fine and performing arts students, is a major part of this committee’s work.
These national programs serve at-risk girls in grades 9-12, young men 12-18 years of age, and middle school girls respectively, each promoting academic, mental, and social enrichment through cultural, community service and other leadership development activities.
▲ SCHOLARSHIP: Annual scholarships awarded to graduating high school seniors in metro Detroit schools.

We’ve got to work to save our children and do it with full respect for the fact that if we do not, no one else is going to do it.
